Whilst looking at the history of Campbeltown during WWII I also came across the following:
Stronvaar House, Kilkerran Road - Owned by Mrs Margaret Merson, proprietrix of The Royal Hotel, this large private house was requisitioned by The Admiralty as a communications center. It was also the scene of a tragic accident on 4th December 1943 when Thomas Macdonald, a 16-year old messenger boy, was accidentally shot by a sentry when delivering a telegram, the boy dead by the time an ambulance arrived.
Second air raid on Campbeltown 09 Febuary 1941

Frederick Pendle Electrical Engineer
Both died when German aircraft dropped mines in the Campbeltown Loch. Two missed the Loch and demolished the two houses occupied by the above. Fifteen others were injured but survived.
